WWII German M40 SS Helmet – ET64, Early-War Apple Green Finish, Named Example –THIS ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE TEMPORARILY
This is a WWII-era German M40 steel combat helmet, size ET64, produced by Eisenhüttenwerk Thale. It retains much of its original apple green factory-applied paint, typical of early-war SS use. The left side bears a visibly faded but complete SS decal, showing some scuffing across the swastika but remaining stable and recognizable.
Inside, the helmet features a well-preserved liner that appears supple and possibly restored. A name, “F. Stainer,” is hand-painted inside, potentially offering provenance for further research. The helmet shell is structurally solid, and the vent holes, rivets, and overall shape remain intact.
Lot number and ET64 maker mark are clearly visible, supporting authenticity. This helmet would make a strong addition to any WWII militaria collection, especially those focused on SS artifacts.
Note: While every effort has been made to accurately describe this item, I am not a professional militaria expert. Any insights, corrections, or authenticating opinions are welcome.
