Description

Royal Worcester Gilt Porcelain Figure Lady with Tambourine by James Hadley, Model 1441, Late 19th, Early 20th Century

An elegant Royal Worcester porcelain figure, model number 1441, finely modelled by the distinguished sculptor James Hadley, dating to the late 19th / early 20th century. The figure stands approximately 26 cm tall and is finished in a rich and luminous gilt glaze, characteristic of Royal Worcester’s finest decorative wares.

The composition depicts a classical female figure in flowing drapery, captured in a graceful, dynamic pose as she raises a tambourine above her head. The naturalistic modelling of the figure, combined with the beautifully articulated folds of the drapery, demonstrates Hadley’s exceptional sculptural skill and the high standards of Royal Worcester craftsmanship.

The contrast between the soft ivory porcelain flesh tones and the opulent gilding enhances the sculptural depth and elegance of the piece. Strongly influenced by neoclassical design, this figure reflects the refined aesthetic tastes of the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

A highly decorative and collectable example, ideal for collectors of Royal Worcester, English porcelain, or neoclassical revival sculpture, and a striking display piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
