Beautiful Louis Philippe Ormulu mounted ebonised Portico Mantle Clock, unsigned, from the second quarter of the 19th century.
The circular eight-day counterwheel bell striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by decorative ‘gridiron’ pendulum incorporating floral rosette cast bob and serpent decorated yoke, the backplate stamped 948, the circular silvered brass engine-turned Roman numeral dial with pierced blued steel hands within differing floral bloom cast bezel, the case with tablet upstand to the entablature with ogee cornice and the basket of flowers centred inset inhabitated foliate scroll cast mount to lintel over the dial and visible pendulum set between four Roman Doric columns with engine turned gilt caps and bases, the plinth base fronted with a conforming mount over canted skirt and small compressed bun feet.
Size 50 cm (19.75ins) high, 26 cm (10.25 ins) width, 14,5 cm (5.75 ins) deep.
