Finely Cast 19th-Century Devotional Sculpture

This exquisite antique South Indian bronze sculpture depicts Lord Ganesh (Ganesha), the beloved Hindu deity revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the embodiment of wisdom. Dating from the 19th century, this piece is a superb example of traditional devotional bronze work.

The four-armed Ganesh is shown seated in a dynamic, expressive pose on a tiered pedestal. He holds traditional attributes that symbolise protection and spiritual strength, including a conch and an elephant goad (or similar objects) in his raised hands.

The sculpture is finely cast and richly detailed, showcasing intricate ornamentation and a serene, powerful facial expression that reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of the South Indian bronze tradition.
