A French Faience Double Inkwell, Rouen Region, 19th / Early 20th Century

Provenance-style brief description
A charming French Continental faience double inkwell, probably from the Rouen region, decorated with polychrome floral sprays and insects in blue, yellow, green, and iron-red enamels. The central hinged cover is flanked by two inkwells surmounted by flame-shaped finials, all raised on small feet. The arched back panel is richly painted with flowers and scrolling foliage, displaying the lively palette and painterly character associated with Rouen faience. Minor wear consistent with age, contributing to its authentic character. From a private collection.
