Antique Pair of Royal Worcester Water Carrier Figures – Design by James Hadley, c. Late 19th–Early 20th Century
A superb pair of finely crafted Royal Worcester porcelain figures, attributed to celebrated sculptor James Hadley. These kneeling water carriers are rendered in exquisite detail, with classical or biblical themes reflecting the Orientalist and Neoclassical styles popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.
Each figure is finished in a warm ivory glaze, with delicate hand-painted floral motifs and gilded ac-cents on the garments and vessels. The expressive poses—one male and one female—capture a serene, contemplative mood typical of Hadley’s artistic language.
These figures embody the grace and technical mastery for which Royal Worcester was renowned, mak-ing them a striking addition to any antique porcelain or fine decorative arts collection.
Dimensions – The male figure is 14 x 14 cm high and the female is 13 cm depth (6 x 6 inches and 5.2 x 5.2 inches depth)
Excellent condition for its age, with normal wear and tear expected of antique porcelain. There is a very tiny, insignificant chip on the female figure, not visible in the photographs, and a faint line on the foot of the male figure, also not noticeable in the images. These do not detract from the overall display quali-ty or charm of the pieces.
