This handsome mantel clock represents a well-crafted example of early 20th-century domestic horology, combining traditional cabinet craftsmanship with a reliable mechanical movement. The clock features a warm-toned wooden case with a gently arched top and a circular enamel dial framed by a brass bezel, offering clear Arabic numerals and classic proportions.
A brass presentation plate to the front is dated 1923, providing a useful historical reference and enhancing the piece’s character. The clock retains its original pendulum and winding key, an increasingly uncommon survival for clocks of this period.
Designed to sit prominently on a mantelpiece or sideboard, clocks of this type were central features of domestic interiors, valued for both practicality and decorative presence. Today, they appeal to collectors of traditional timepieces, period interiors, and early mechanical craftsmanship.
