Beautiful Antique 14th century Islamic Oil Lamp
Cast and engraved in a copper alloy oil lamp with a closed body, inspired by Byzantine prototypes, four covered wicks with a spade-shaped mouth, a small thumb piece, and a large ring handle with a bird on the top of the han-dle.
This is a rare authentic antique medieval Islamic / Persian / Middle Eastern metal double-wicked oil lamp. The rounded body sits on a spreading trum-pet foot, the handle formed as a loop with an integral bird perched above, hinged lid with bird finial. It has a nice patina; minor scratches, and chips seen to the body consistent with age and use.
