Tazza Early 20th Century Gilt Bronze Rococo Tazza with French Empire Elegance

A breathtaking example of French lost wax casting, this gilt bronze tazza combines the opulent intricacy of an exceptional early 20th-century French gilt bronze tazza, executed in the Rococo Revival style with pronounced Empire influences, and showcasing superb craftsmanship associated with lost-wax casting.

The oval bowl is richly adorned with floral garlands, scrolling ornament and theatrical masks, centred by two finely modelled cherubic putti, each holding cymbals in playful celebration. Their elongated dolphin-tailed forms curve outward to form sculptural handles, lending both movement and balance to the composition.

The bowl is supported by a striking serpent-entwined column, symbolising eternity and wisdom, accented with a delicate beaded (pearl) motif. This rises from an opulent domed base, lavishly decorated with lion masks, heraldic motifs, and hand-chiselled foliate scrollwork, echoing the grandeur of the French Empire tradition.

The surface retains a rich original gilt finish, with a refined contrast between matte and burnished highlights that enhance the depth and sculptural quality of the work. Every detail reflects the exuberance and sophistication of French decorative bronzes from the turn of the century.

A museum-quality decorative object, ideal as a centrepiece, console display, or addition to a serious collection of French bronzes, Rococo revival works, or grand interior antiques.

Size 18cm w, 21cm h and 13 cm depth.
