Description

18th Century Greek Antique Oil Lamp – Cast Copper Alloy Bird Form

A rare and highly decorative 18th-century Greek oil lamp, finely cast in copper alloy and formed in the shape of a stylised bird. This elegant closed-body lamp is a superb example of traditional Greek metal craftsmanship, combining functional design with symbolic and sculptural form.

The lamp features carefully modelled detailing, with engraved surface texture and a gracefully extended spout, all resting on an integrated pedestal base. The bird form is believed to carry symbolic meaning in Greek and Mediterranean culture, often associated with protection and light.

The surface displays a rich, untouched aged patina, consistent with genuine age and long use, enhancing both its authenticity and visual appeal. Its compact proportions make it ideal for display within a cabinet, scholarly collection, or alongside classical and archaeological objects.
