Authentic First World War Prussian Military Artifact, c.1915

An authentic well used Helmet of the 1st WW. This remarkable military artifact is an authentic Imperial German Pickelhaube helmet dating from 1915, looks like one that have seen many bullets or firings whiz past during the height of the First World War.

The helmet features the distinctive black leather skull construction that characterized these iconic pieces of military headgear, complete with its historical patina and age-appropriate wear.
The most striking element is the ornate brass Prussian eagle badge mounted prominently on the front, featuring the imperial “Gott Mit Uns” (God With Us) motto on a banner clutched in the eagle’s talons. This emblem represents the German Empire under Kaiser Wilhelm II and serves as both a national identifier and a symbol of military authority.

The helmet’s design includes several notable period-specific features:
• A flat-topped brass ventilation finial (spike housing) at the crown
• Original chinstrap mounting hardware visible on the sides
• Characteristic curved rear neck guard
• Rounded visor with aged metallic trim
Standing approximately 15cm in height, this Pickelhaube represents the later wartime production models when material shortages began influencing military equipment manufacturing. As the war progressed, these helmets would eventually be replaced by the more practical steel Stahlhelm.
This historical piece would make an exceptional addition to any serious military memorabilia collection, offering an authentic connection to one of history’s most transformative conflicts. The helmet shows appropriate signs of age and authentic wear, consistent with battlefield-used equipment from this period.
