Antique English Brass Carriage Clock Bevelled Glass Roman Dial Original Key c1900

This elegant English carriage clock dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and exemplifies the enduring appeal of traditional portable timepieces. Housed in a polished brass case with bevelled glass panels on all sides and the top, the clock allows clear visibility of the dial and movement while providing excellent light reflection and decorative presence.

The white enamel dial is fitted with bold Roman numerals and finely shaped black hands, offering strong legibility and classical balance. The shaped brass carrying handle adds both practical functionality and visual charm, reflecting the clock’s origins as a portable travelling timepiece.

Carriage clocks of this type were widely used in both domestic and travel settings and remain highly collectable for their craftsmanship, reliability, and decorative appeal. This example is accompanied by its original winding key, enhancing its completeness and desirability.

Clocks, Mantle clocks, music boxes, and other similar items may require service after transportation and are sold as decorative pieces. Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them, as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or service, as they can get ‘stuck’. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported. Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour.
