Description
Pair of Royal Worcester Figural Porcelain Candlesticks, Boy and Girl in Tree Form, Late 19th Century
A charming pair of Royal Worcester porcelain figural candlesticks modelled as a seated boy and girl resting within naturalistic branching tree supports, each surmounted by twin candle nozzles formed as floral cups. Executed in softly tinted pastel enamels with gilt accents, the figures wear period costume typical of late Victorian pastoral subjects. The bases are textured to resemble moss-covered ground, while the branching stems display finely modelled bark and applied foliage, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship associated with Royal Worcester’s decorative wares of the period. Likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, these pieces reflect the influence of the Hadley school of modelling, celebrated for its lifelike figural compositions and romantic rural themes. An attractive and decorative pair, ideal for collectors of fine English porcelain or period interior display.
