Royal Worcester Figure “Karan Singh, The Copper Beater”  

This finely modelled Royal Worcester porcelain figure represents Karan Singh, The Copper Beater, a traditional Indian artisan depicted seated cross-legged at his work. The figure was possibly by James Hadley, one of Royal Worcester’s most celebrated modellers, known for his highly expressive and finely detailed sculptural designs.

The composition captures the quiet concentration of the craftsman, surrounded by his tools, with careful attention to costume, posture, and facial expression. The figure is richly hand-painted in soft enamel tones, with delicate floral decoration to the tunic and subtle shading throughout, reflecting the exceptional standards of Royal Worcester figure production.

Figures of this type formed part of Royal Worcester’s celebrated ethnographic and genre series, illustrating traditional occupations and cultural subjects, and are now increasingly sought after by collectors of fine English porcelain.

In very good overall condition with no chips or cracks observed. Glaze is clean, and colours remain vibrant. Minor factory or firing marks may be present, consistent with hand-finished porcelain. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the description.
