This finely preserved 19th-century painting depicts the Madonna with the Infant Jesus, executed in the distinctive Cusco School tradition that flourished in colonial Peru. The Cusqueña style is renowned for its fusion of European Baroque religious iconography with indigenous Andean aesthetics, resulting in richly ornamented devotional works of striking colour and spiritual intensity.
