Pair of Continental Art Nouveau Style Bisque Porcelain Hanging Plaques with Musical Cherubs, Floral Garlands and Gilt Decoration, Late 19th to Early 20th Century

A delightful pair of Continental Art Nouveau style bisque porcelain hanging plaques, each beautifully modelled with charming cherubs in high relief within richly ornamented Rococo-inspired frames. Executed in soft pastel tones with delicate gilt highlights, these highly decorative plaques embody the romantic elegance of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Continental porcelain.

One plaque depicts a winged cherub playing a flute while standing gracefully amongst flowering branches, accompanied by another cherub holding a basket overflowing with delicately modelled blossoms. The companion plaque features a complementary scene of cherubs amongst floral garlands and decorative foliage, creating a harmonious and visually striking pair.

Each plaque is lavishly embellished with applied blossoms, scrolling foliage, raised beaded ornamentation and finely executed gilt detailing. The relief modelling displays exceptional craftsmanship, with expressive facial features, softly modelled forms and carefully hand-painted decoration throughout.

Likely produced in Continental Europe, possibly Austria or Germany, during the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, these plaques are fine examples of decorative Art Nouveau porcelain, combining elegance with the playful charm of classical putti.
