A rare and finely crafted Royal Worcester porcelain figurine from 1888, “Karan Singh, The Trinket Maker” is part of the celebrated Indian Craftsmen series designed by master modeller James Hadley. This piece depicts a seated artisan in traditional attire, skilfully working with a hammer and anvil, surrounded by detailed representations of his tools and wares. Finished in the distinctive beige glaze of late 19th-century Royal Worcester, the figurine showcases delicate hand-painted floral accents and in-tricate base decoration. Marked with the Royal Worcester stamp, serial number 68832, and pattern number 1207, this 13 cm high, 10 cm wide figure is a prized collector’s item, rarely seen on the market and featured in major reference works are illustrated by Porcelain and Ceramic expert Henry Sandon in Royal Worcester Porcelain (1978), pl. 102. The figure’s hammer is missing, but it remains in excellent antique condition with very minimal wear.
