Description

Antique Sitzendorf Figural Candelabra & Candlestick;
A very rare and beautiful German porcelain candelabra, made by Sitzendorf during their early period (1850-1890).
The candle bra rests on a base of copious floral encrustations both on the arms and base. The stem is held by two young boys holding a cricket bat. The branches can be removed to use as a single candle stick.
Although cricket is played in different parts of Europe, it is unusual for a German Porcelain item with these as subjects. Probably this would have been specially made for a wealthy English family for someone who plays cricket (this comes from a large house in the UK).
The details of floral decorations are strikingly sharp and can be compared only to museum rococo pieces.
The decorations are finished in soft pastel colours with a delicate touch of an artist.
The condition of the piece, considering its age, is excellent. There are no losses to the leaves and flowers, which is very rare again to find for such pieces. Pieces in such mint condition are seldom seen except in museums. For details, please see the pictures, as they form part of the description.
