A superb and highly sought-after Royal Worcester porcelain figure, The Bather Surprised, modelled after the celebrated sculpture by Sir Thomas Brock RA. This elegant classical study depicts a graceful maiden caught in a moment of modest surprise, partially draped in flowing robes and resting against a naturalistic tree bough.

Executed in fine white glazed porcelain, the figure is beautifully enhanced with rich gilt detailing to the drapery, tree trunk and shaped base, creating a striking contrast that highlights the refinement of Worcester’s craftsmanship. The delicate modelling of the facial features, flowing hair and fluid pose demonstrates the exceptional artistry for which Royal Worcester became renowned during the early 20th century.

The underside bears the puce printed Royal Worcester factory mark, together with model number 486 and the date code for 1921, confirming this as an authentic period example.
