Description

Oil Painting, Gilt Framed, early 20th century, A Radiant Victorian Beauty,

An exquisite original oil on canvas portrait, depicting a young Victorian lady of remarkable poise and elegance. Painted in the British School, late 19th to early 20th century, this captivating work presents the sitter dressed in a refined yellow and white gown, delicately holding a small vase of flowers—an enduring symbol of youth, innocence, and transience.

The artist has rendered the subject with exceptional sensitivity, capturing her luminous complexion, expressive eyes, and gentle smile. Her soft gaze engages the viewer directly, lending the portrait a quiet intimacy and emotional depth. The subtle handling of light and texture in the lace, fabric, and flesh tones reflects accomplished academic training and careful observation.

Signed E. K. Prizeman lower right, the painting is housed in its original gilt cassetta frame, which enhances the warmth and elegance of the composition while preserving its authentic period character. The richly carved frame complements the refined colour palette and elevates the portrait’s decorative presence.
