Antique German Porcelain Figure of Mercury
This captivating antique German porcelain figure depicts the Roman god Mercury, standing tall beside a tree. Reminiscent of the Dresden style, the figure features a colourful cockerel at the base of the tree trunk, with a mischievous cherub gazing upwards. Mercury holds his signature attributes: a winged hat and a caduceus (the magic wand) entwined with a serpent. Crafted from fine porcelain, the figure stands approximately 22 cm tall.
The porcelain boasts a vibrant and intricate palette, showcasing the fine details and craftsmanship characteristic of the period. Markings on the bottom suggest possible attribution to a Dresden factory, though further research is needed for confirmation as this originates from this part of Germany.
